I have recently read about some truly bizarre and what seem unnecessary national celebrations such as ‘National I love my feet day’ and ‘National sneak a courgette into you neighbours porch day’ <— What!? But today is one I can get on board with because it’s national burger day! I don’t need to tell you how great burgers are. Burger is burger. I am yet to find someone that doesn’t like burgers and that isn’t an invitation to change that. The whole damn country is bonkers for burgers so I would have to assume non-fans are aliens disguised as humans like in Men in Black. In this case the memory blasting pen would be needed to obliterate any bad feelings towards burgers and after which I’d settle down a Patty & Bun (my new favourite in London) in front of them and we’d all live happily ever after. Something to consider as a national service perhaps?
Ingredients: (serves 1)
1 brioche bun, sliced in half
1 good quality burger
2 lettuce leaves
3 tomato slices
2 smoked bacon slices
1/2 avocado, sliced
1/2 small red onion, sliced into rings
3 cheddar cheese slices
1. Cook the burger in the oven or BBQ for 20 – 25 mins, placing the cheese on top for the last 5 minutes so it melts.
2. Spread the bottom half of your bun with the mayonnaise and top with the lettuce, tomatoes, burger, bacon, avocado, onion slices and finally the other bun half. Simples.
